Likely tumbleweed will blow through the mind of any Liberal Democrat activist when asked what the political ethos the Liberal Democrat Party happens to be, if you do actually get some kind of coherent answer as to what the political ethos of Liberal Democrat might happen to be from any it’s any party activists it will be something like the Lib Dems are different because they wear yellow rosettes not red or blue.
If you join the Libs Dems then your local party won’t be interested in your thoughts upon any of the party policies they might be campaigning upon, no they’ll just be interested in you delivering leaflets no matter what those leaflets say.
The mindset of a Lib Dem activist is to win no matter if they’ve no fixed ethos or actually have any actual worthwhile policies, winning no matter what seems to the way of Lib Dem activists, winning for the sake of winning mentality.
Despite the woolly jumper image many have of the Lib Dems, they’ve been accused on numerous occasions of running some of the dirtiest local election campaigns, me thinks the ‘winning no matter what’ attitude might have something to do with this etc, anyways I wasn’t terribly surprised hearing from various peeps around the country that the Lib Dems in their locality have carried on campaigning post the Manchester terror attack whereas the other major parties suspended campaigning in the general election as a mark of respect in the aftermath of the terror attack.
I know some might accuse me of disrespect as I’ve not stopped publishing blog posts since Monday, however I’d point out I’m a political commentator not in fact an activist for any political party regards this blog & other political/social commentators such as Paris Lees & Owen Jones have been having stuff of theirs published since the terror attack on Monday. Yes I’m supportive of Jeremy Corbyn & Labour currently, what I’ve definitely not been doing the past few days is knocking on peeps front door or shoving leaflets through letterboxes unlike the Lib Dems despite the fact that officially it was agreed to suspend campaigning in the general election until today when there’s meant to be a phrased return to electioneering.
Okay the Lib Dems aren’t the only party who’ve continued to disrespectfully electioneer when supposedly the election campaign has been officially suspended, but I think most progressives & peeps on the left wouldn’t be surprised by UKIP doing so or that they’ve been attempting to make as much political capital as they can from the terror attack in Manchester.
Of course because the Lib Dems are flat-lining in the polls & thus the great Lib Dem fightback is definite on hold, it’s likely they’re even more desperate for votes, so though the other major parties have ceased hassling peeps for votes as it would be seen as possibly disrespectful over the past few days, the Lib Dems have continued to do so out of their own desperation & again because the ‘winning no matter what’ attitude.
