I tried to watch the BBC’s Newsbeat Election Debate last night, but other then being fucking knackered, I kind of felt I wasn’t sure as a 43 year old I could relate anymore to the concerns of young peeps, obviously I was once young & I can remember the concerns I had then & if I’m to be honest thanks to the Tories & the sell-out of Blairites not much has changed, however I’m feeling more awkward writing this blog post more then any other blog post I’ve written during this election, I guess its because I remember when I was in my late teens & early twenties & some 40 something tried giving me advice then they’d of likely to of told them in no uncertain terms to fuck off.
The truth is young peeps could decide the outcome of this general election if the turnout of young peeps to vote matches the number who registered to vote & it’s not counting my chickens to hatch when I say most peeps are likely to vote Labour if they vote at all, so obviously I want to young peeps to vote Labour tomorrow.
What I’d say to young peeps is if enough of them turnout to vote then there’s a chance Labour could be forming the next government & if that’s the outcome of the election tomorrow then their support for Labour will be more then rewarded. What the fuck are the Tories offering young peeps? From what I’ve heard of Tory policy proposals during this election campaign, the Tories offering fuck all hope & opportunity for young peeps, whereas Jeremy Corbyn & Labour are offering hope & opportunity with investment in education & the economy, votes at 16, raising the minimum wage to what really is a living wage not the Tories joke of a living wage, the ending of university tuition fees because Jeremy Corbyn & Labour believe in not burying young peeps up to their eyeballs in debt & thus penalising them when they’re attempting to better themselves
Jeremy Corbyn cares about young peeps & so shouldn’t young peeps care about getting Jeremy Corbyn elected as Prime Minister? I care about young peeps because they’re potentially the nurses, doctors, engineers, teachers & other professionals this country needs for there to be a better standard of life, because I know the consequences personally of not being able to fulfil one’s potential due to a lack of hope & opportunity & how devastating upon the rest of your life that can be!
All I hear from the Tories is a lack of support for young peeps to fulfil their potential, I’m sure Momentum’s army of activists will be reminding young peeps this tomorrow as they attempt to get them to go & vote. I’m actually pretty confident in Momentum’s army of activists getting the young vote to turnout tomorrow, but at the risk of sound patronising it is casting a vote tomorrow which is important not just clicking like on Jeremy Corbyn’s Facebook page.
