Vince Cable to the surprise of nobody has announced his bid to become leader of the Liberal Democrats & so expect Lib Dem leadership hustings to be held in toilet cubicles & broom cupboards in the places few & far between where peeps are still dopey enough to vote Lib Dem in any substantial number that it might actually matter, well that’s if either Ed Davey or Norman or both of them challenge Cable for the Lib Dem leadership.
Anybody terribly excited about Vince Cable bidding to be Lib Dem leader? Err me neither, I mean if the 2015 General Election results weren’t a big enough fuck you from the electorate to the Lib Dems for jumping into bed with the Tories then the 2017 General Election results were a message to the Lib Dems to fuck off back into political obscurity as they are now a party of no consequence except when its convenient for the Tories to use them as stooges for their evil plans.
I know somebody will ask me if I think the Liberal Democrats are now so politically inconsequential then why is it I spend so much time writing about them? Err because I happen to be a social/political/cultural commentator & thus its very much my role to write about all the shenanigans going on with the political parties at Westminster plus I like giving the Lib Dems a bashing & I just know that’s going to get some kind of whiny response from Lib Dems asking me why I hate them so? The 2010 general election, having voted Lib Dem because I thought they were the most progressive choice on the ballot paper & then seeing my vote being betrayed with millions of others by the Lib Dems jumping into bed with the Tories for the kodus of being in government & not much else besides, oh & don’t start bollocking on about how much the Lib Dems achieved in government as you achieved jack shit for the likes of me, you just propped up the Tories who reeked misery & stress on peeps with disabilities like myself!
I might in part mourn the radicalism of the Liberal Party I once knew, but I’m glad the great Lib Dem fightback didn’t materialise at the general election just gone, but I’m glad that because of the dwindling number of Lib Dems that any leadership hustings could easily be held in a fucking toilet cubicle, because I still don’t think Lib Dems still get how hurt some of us feel in being betrayed by their actions in the aftermath of the 2010 General Election & nor do I think they’re going to & until they do they’ll hear nothing but mockery venom from the likes of me.
